Dentalcare For Kids

Baby teeth are critically important to your childs development they serve many functions, including :

  •  Biting and chewing, required for good nutrition
  •  Supporting the lips to present a pleasant face structure and smile
  •  Providing the necessary tools for speech
  •  Guiding the permanent teeth into the best position

Its really important to try to save the baby teeth until they are ready to fall out on their own.

· Sealants

Sealants are an important preventative tool to prevent cavities. We can do sealants on permanent or baby teeth to help
to protect them. The protective coating goes over the tooth and fills in any grooves to help to prevent decay.

· Crowns

When a tooth has been destroyed by decay to the extent that there is little tooth structure to support a filling,
then it is the best to surround the tooth with a crown. The crown can help to keep the tooth structure together.

· Space maintainers

Space maintainers are placed when a baby tooth has been extracted prematurely, these appliances help to
hold the space for the permanent tooth that will come in. If the space is not maintained,
the permanent tooth may not be able to come in properly.

· Fluoride Treatments

Topikal Fluoride comes in a number of different forms. Gels and foams are placed in fluoride trays and
applied at the dental office after your child’s teeth have been thoroughly cleaned.

· Mouth Guards and Sports

Mouth guards hold top priority as sport equipment. They protect not just the teeth but the lips, cheeks and tongue.
Increasingly, organized sports are requiring mouth guards to prevent injury to their athletes.
Research shows that the most oral injuries occur when atheletes are not wearing mouth protection.
